MidState Mavericks Coaching Staff

The Midstate Mavericks have put together a professional staff to organize, train, and build our players. Every team will not have an ex- professional as their coach; however, all of former pro players will be working with players throughout the entire Mid State Mavericks system. All Mid State Mavericks coaches will regularly meet to discuss program strategy, teaching techniques, etc.

Gavin OsteenGavin Osteen: OWNER

Gavin Osteen, owner of Full Count Baseball and Softball Training Center and The Mid-State Mavericks Travel Baseball Organization, played 13 years, from 1989-2003, with the A's, Orioles, Dodgers, Pirates, and Angels organizations, and has spent the last 15 years teaching pitching and hitting fundamentals to kids 6-19 years of age, from all over Central PA.

It all started one off-season while he was still playing pro ball, with 1-5 lessons per week, and has grown into his full-time job, making retirement from pro baseball an easy transition. "While playing pro ball, I met a lot of great people, learned from the best pitching coaches, managers, and hitting coaches all along the way, and I feel very privileged to pass along my knowledge of the game to the youth baseball players of Central Pa. Having a father who pitched 18 years in the Majors didnt hurt either." Coach Osteen's father, Claude, pitched 18 years in the Majors along-side Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale, and many other greats of the game. His brother, Dave, also pitched 6 years with the St. Louis Cardinals.

Coach grew up in Annville, PA, and now lives in Palmyra with wife Jennifer, son Nathan, and daughter Lauren. His oldest son, Derrick, played Division I baseball, and graduated from William and Mary of the Colonial Athletic Association. He now lives in Richmond, VA.
